ATRP Solutions' Team Experience Counts...
ATRP Solutions founders’ and staff are the most experienced team
that could be assembled for atom transfer radical polymerization. They bring over 70 years
of polymer chemistry experience and over 30 years of ATRP technology-specific experience
to the company.
Dr. Patrick McCarthy, CEO and founder
Dr. McCarthy has experience in the areas of ATRP and product development. He has doctorate degree in Chemistry. Prior to founding ATRP Solutions, he worked as a project manager at Dionex Corporation where he led a team to bring a line of products containing polymers made by ATRP from conception to commercialization. He as over 25 publications and 4 patents. Dr. McCarthy is currently an MBA candidate at Carnegie Mellon University's Tepper School of Business.
Dr. Krzysztof Matyjaszewski, CTO and founder
Dr Matyjaszewski invented ATRP technology and has pioneered the field of ATRP focusing on both mechanism elucidation and new material synthesis. Dr. Matyjaszewski has authored over 700 scientific papers, 60 book chapters and filed 30 patent applications related to ATRP technology making him the world’s leader in ATRP technology. Dr. Matyjaszewski is currently the J.C. Warner Professor of Natural Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University.
Dr. James Spanswick, VP and founder
Dr. Spanswick spent 25 years at Amoco Chemicals (now part of BP) focusing on the development and commercialization of polymeric materials. In 1994 he formed Bridges TIC to assist corporations in the commercialization and capitalization of intellectual property. In addition to working with several Fortune 100 corporations on IP issues he has worked with Carnegie Mellon University and to protect ATRP, 25 issued US patents, and to transfer technology to industrial organizations through formation of two Research Consortia at CMU, 37 Consortium Members over the past 11 years which has resulted negotiation of nine licenses based on ATRP for CMU.
Dr. Nicolay Tsarevsky, CSO
Nicolay (Nick) Tsarevsky obtained his M.S. in theoretical chemistry and chemical physics from the University of Sofia, Bulgaria, in 1999. His studies were on the use of hypervalent iodine compounds as polymerization initiators. He obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Carnegie Mellon University in 2005 where he was working in Professor Kris Matyjaszewski's group on the synthesis of functional polymers by ATRP, and on development of rules for rational selection of the catalyst for various monomers and reaction media, including aqueous solvents. Nick has been involved in the synthesis of (bio)degradable polymeric materials, including linear and branched polymers as well as gels. He has authored and coauthored more than 40 papers in peer-reviewed journals, 5 book chapters, 1 textbook and several patents. Research interests include polymerization techniques, functional materials, coordination chemistry and catalysis, and the chemistry hypervalent compounds.
Dr. Wojciech Jakubowski, VP of Manufacturing
Dr. Jakubowski received his doctorate degree in Chemistry from Carnegie Mellon University in 2007. He has authored over 15 scientific publications and 2 US patents. He has contributed to the development of ATRP by inventing a polymerization technique which reduces the required amount of catalyst required by over one thousand fold. He has utilized this discovery to simplify ATRP scale-up and purification. | ||||||||||||||||||||
